Your Daily Brush: Sleep As Mental Hygiene and Self Care
Making sure to get enough sleep is part of the practice of mental hygiene and the practice of self care.
Dear Friends,
Protecting your sleep is an essential act of self-care. When you sleep well, you are advancing your mental hygiene.
Unfortunately, in the rush of life, it is easy to end up sleep deprived.
Even if you don’t intend to, when life gets busy and demands increase in number, adequate sleep can slip by the wayside.
Rx: Assess how many hours of sleep you need for optimal functioning. Everyone is different. Most people need seven to eight hours, though some report feeling that they do well with just six hours.
Once you have determined how much sleep you need, make a commitment to reach your minimum daily dose.
Deciding that your sleep is a non-negotiable helps you go from from knowing to doing.
To your health!
