Your Daily Brush: Micro-Meditation with Nasturtiums
Remember to take time to pause in the midst of your busy day. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly and look around you and see what uplifts you.
Dear Friends,
Hope that you are pausing regularly to stop and take deep breaths, and exhale slowly.
Remember, the key to relaxation lies in exhaling longer than inhaling, as that is when your body goes into relaxation mode (during the out-breath.)
Pausing to do focused, intentional breathing is also a good moment to do a micro-meditation.
It can be as short at thirty seconds and can be incorporated into your day at various points. Think of micro-meditations as punctuation marks that keep your day from turning into a non-stop run-on sentence.
If you like, you can look out your window and find something in nature to briefly focus on.
Alternatively, you can use the nasturtiums below to do a micro-meditation: notice the contrast in colors and shapes; notice the veins in the leaves; and notice the spot where an insect has been munching away.
The regular practice of mental hygiene does not have to be complicated. It can be as simple as periodically using micro-meditations as part of your mental hygiene tool-kit.
To your health!
