When was the last time you stopped to look at the sky? I mean really look at it — and notice the colors and clouds?
How often do you pay attention to trees in your surroundings?
It’s easy to get into a rush and go from task to task and overlook the everyday magic and mystery that surrounds us.
One way to keep your batteries charged is to work in small doses of nature into your day.
You don’t need to drive to a park or go to a hiking trail.
You can just look up at the sky and notice whatever is there at the moment: the color or colors depending on the time of day; maybe there is a breeze blowing, or maybe you can even hear some birds.
Looking at shrubs and bushes also can yield unexpected rewards. You never know what colors and patterns are revealed to you in the most unexpected of ways. For instance, would you ever imagine that there are wild strawberries growing right in the middle of San Francisco?
Here is what I found unexpectedly, while trudging uphill on California Ave. A small flash of red caught my eye, and when I looked closer, I was delighted to discover this strawberry!
The next time you step outside your door, I invite you to take a look around and see what small discovery awaits you, that can serve as a treat for your psyche and soul. And if you feel inspired to share what you find, I would love to hear what you discover.
Maybe you will discover a new aspect of something you have seen hundreds of times before. Or maybe you will discover something new and unexpected, like a beautiful cloud formation. Or…who knows?
Here’s to nature - in big ways and small! I wish you happy rejuvenation. As with fluoride for your teeth, where small doses over time can add up to make a big difference and the same can happen for your psyche with micro-doses of nature.
Cheers and to your health!!
